AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) has arrested a man they believe to be behind the shooting that led to the death of a man over the weekend.
APD says 25-year-old Timmel Eggleston was charged with first-degree murder in connection to 24-year-old Alan Picazzo's death on April 27.
Picazzo was killed Saturday morning at The Quincy apartments on Red River Street, in the Rainey Street District.
Authorities were called out to the complex around 6:30 a.m. after reports of multiple shots fired. When they arrived, they found Picazzo with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to APD.
During the investigation, APD learned that Picazzo was involved in a disturbance with someone else, believed to be Eggleston, before it escalated into a shooting.
Picazzo's death is being investigated as Austin's 17th homicide of 2024. Meanwhile, Eggleston faces multiple charges and remains in Travis County Jail.
