Man found dead in stairwell of North Austin apartment complex

This is the 78th homicide of the year, according to APD.

AUSTIN, Texas — Police have arrested a suspect accused in a murder investigation after an incident on Thursday, Nov. 4.

The Austin Police Department said the incident happened in the 600 block of St. Johns Avenue. Police said a man was found dead in a stairwell of an apartment complex.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Nasser, 32. Meanwhile, the suspect was identified as Joseph Tedder, 22.

An arrest warrant was issued for Tedder on Nov. 24, charging him with murder. Pittsburgh police identified Tedder after a shoplifting call on Dec. 22, where Tedder ran away.

He was later located at residence that evening and taken into custody with assistance from the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office. In addition to local charges, he was booked in the Alleghany County Jail for the murder.

This was the 78th homicide of the year, according to APD. A shooting Thursday night brought the total to 79.
