AUSTIN, Texas — The Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) and the Georgetown Police Department are working to identify persons of interest suspected of vandalizing a number of locations in Williamson County, including the office of U.S. Rep. John Carter.
The front door of Carter's office was vandalized with red paint, and the phrase “Free Gaza” was spray painted on the sidewalk in red.
WCSO released photos of the persons of interest, wanted for criminal mischief, as well as photos of the vehicle they were driving.
The people pictured are believed to be behind vandalizing Carter's office, as well as other offenses that occurred at the Williamson County Courthouse and the Republican Party headquarters in Georgetown.
“Unhinged anti-Israel activists vandalized my Georgetown office,” Carter posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the incident occurred. “Let me make 2 things clear, my support for Israel is unwavering & your intimidation won’t work. Secondly, the parties responsible will be found & will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
A representative from Carter’s office estimated the cost of cleaning the damages to be around $2,000. Criminal mischief is a Class A misdemeanor if the amount of loss is between $750 and $2,500, according to the Georgetown Police Department.
Anyone with any information about the vandalism to Carter's office is asked to contact the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, the Georgetown Police Department at CID@georgetown.org or Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-253-7867.
