Police arrest man in connection with June double homicide in southeast Austin

Police arrested 37-year-old Hector Olvera, who is accused of shooting and killing two men and injuring another on June 26.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a double homicide that happened in southeast Austin in June.

In the late night hours on June 26, Austin police responded to a call of a shooting in the 2300 block of Pleasant Valley Road. When officers arrived on scene, they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds near the Trio Apartments.

One of the victims died on location and another died after being transported to a nearby hospital. The third victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Those men have been identified as 39-year-old Ricardo Martinez and 30-year-old Aldo Edgar Romero-Milan.

The third victim sustained life-threatening injuries, but police said they remained in stable condition as of June 28.

After an investigation, police arrested 37-year-old Hector Olvera in connection to the shooting. He has been charged with capital murder of multiple persons, a capital felony, as well as evading arrest and detention and auto theft, which are both state jail felonies.
