AUSTIN, Texas — Court documents have revealed new details about how a deadly stabbing in South Austin unfolded between two men.
Luis Marroquin remains in jail following the stabbing on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the C-Mart on South First Street.
According to an affidavit, Marroquin was detained by police about five minutes after a 911 call came in about the stabbing. Police found an unidentified man bleeding in the parking lot before taking him to the hospital, where he later died.
Marroquin told police that the man was an acquaintance he only knew as "Flacco." He initially said Flacco came at him with a knife but was able to take it away before allegedly stabbing him one time in self-defense.
Police said they confronted Marroquin with a video of the attack that showed Marroquin standing up and stabbing Flacco. That's when he allegedly admitted to stabbing Flacco over a comment he did not like, but said he didn't intend to kill him.
Marroquin also said he saw Flacco earlier that day at Home Depot while waiting for work because both men worked as day laborers in the area.
Records show Marroquin remains in Travis County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Meanwhile, the victim has yet to be identified.
The stabbing is Austin's 60th homicide investigation of 2024.
