FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas — After some Central Texas school districts delayed their start times or canceled classes Wednesday amid an increased flood risk, classes appear to resume normally for Thursday.
The KVUE Weather Team has been monitoring the southeast portion of our viewing area, including Fayette, Bastrop, Caldwell and Lee counties. Fayette County in particular received between 4 to 8 inches of rain in the last 12 hours and the Colorado River's level had increased more than 20 feet over the past 24 hours.
Here's a list of the school districts that have delayed their start times or canceled classes for Thursday:
Giddings ISD said due to heavy rain and flooding, there will be another delay of two hours on Thursday.
After canceling Wednesday's classes, the superintendent expects classes to return to normal on Thursday.
"We intend to return to school tomorrow and follow the regular schedule. I will let you know if that changes," Superintendent Julie Motomura told families. "Thank you for your support."
