Water service restored at ACC's Elgin campus after Tuesday outage

The outage was the result of a water main break.

ELGIN, Texas — Water service has been restored at Austin Community College's (ACC) Elgin campus after an outage Tuesday caused the college to close the campus.

ACC said Tuesday morning that its Elgin campus was closed due to a water outage caused by a water main break. ACC said repairs to the main were underway, but all classes, work and activities were canceled in Elgin.

As of 4:46 p.m. Tuesday, water service has been restored at the Elgin campus. ACC said the campus will reopen on Wednesday under a boil water notice. Students are asked to bring their own water if they go to that campus on Wednesday.

All of ACC's other campuses and facilities remained opened and operating normally on Tuesday.

This isn't the first water issue to hit Central Texas over the past few days. Last week, southwest Austin residents were asked to conserve water while Austin Water repaired a leaking waterline. Meanwhile, a boil water notice remains ongoing for parts of North Austin after a truck hit a waterline along West Wells Branch Parkway on Friday.

Over in Bastrop County, residents who live north of FM 696 and west of State Highway 95 are being asked to boil water after a water main broke Tuesday. It's the second boil water notice to be issued in the county in less than a week.
