2024 'Austin Symphony Orchestra July 4 Concert & Fireworks Celebration' schedule released

Live entertainment, food, and of course, fireworks can all be expected during the 47th annual event.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Fourth of July is almost here and with it, comes a series of fireworks shows and celebrations.

This year, the Austin Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is hosting its 47th annual 'July 4 Concert & Fireworks Celebration' at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center, located at 800 W. Riverside Dr.

The free event is set to start 4 p.m. July 4, and this year's schedule includes musical performances from 5-8 p.m., the Master of Ceremonies from 8-8:45 p.m., a symphony show from 8:45-9:30 p.m. and of course, a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. to finish up the night.

The celebration is produced by Forefront Networks and attendees can provide their own blankets and chairs to watch the show.

The following items are not permitted:

  • Grills
  • Personal fireworks
  • Alcohol
  • Sparklers
  • Glass

Service dogs are authorized on the premises but no other pets are allowed during the event.

Event transportation

There are a number of ways to arrive at the event, including hiking or biking. Vehicles like motorcycles cannot be used on the Hike-and-Bike Trail, and those who use the path should bring a flashlight for the way back.

Free rides are also available with CapMetro anytime after 5 p.m. July 4 if you'd prefer not to take a personal vehicle.

Shared mobility devices can be dropped off at Riverside Drive and South First Street, and those using Uber and/or Lyft will get picked up on Lee Barton Drive.

Parking options

Those who prefer to drive to the celebration can find a series of parking spots nearby. Public spaces are open just north of Lady Bird Lake, and additional parking can be found at the One Texas Center, Palmer Event Center, River South Garage, City Hall Garage and State Garage North.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking is also offered at One Texas Center and the Palmer Event Center Garage.

Road, lake closures

Drivers should also be aware of various road closures, set to start at approximately 7 p.m. near Auditorium Shores. Some parts of South First Street and West Riverside Drive will be closed during this time.

Bouldin Creek neighborhood will also remain blocked from drivers looking to cut through or park. Those who attempt to leave their vehicles in this area could face fines, tickets or other consequences.

Additionally, a portion of Lady Bird Lake, stretching from the South First Street Bridge to the railroad trestle bridge, will be shut down to boats, kayaks and other water transportation devices from 8 p.m. through midnight.

It's important to follow these regulations in order to create a safe, enjoyable Fourth of July experience.
