Victim identified in fatal crash near Research Boulevard and Braker Lane in northwest Austin

APD initially said that investigators suspected this crash might have been the result of one of the drivers driving on the wrong side of the road.

AUSTIN, Texas — Police have identified the woman killed in a northwest Austin crash earlier this week.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said at approximately 11:38 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at West Braker Lane and the Research Boulevard northbound service road.

The driver of the SUV, later identified as 32-year-old Ashlee Marie Pegram, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passengers of the SUV and the driver of the other car were all taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. APD initially said that three of the people involved in the crash were children. 

APD also initially said that investigators suspected this crash might have been the result of one of the drivers driving on the wrong side of the road.

No arrests have been made, but this incident is being investigated as Austin's 32nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 33 deaths so far this year. At this time last year, there had been 40 fatal crashes resulting in 40 deaths.
