Tweet from San Marcos councilwoman triggers ethics complaint

AUSTIN, Texas — A controversial tweet from San Marcos City Councilmember Joca Marquez caused one person to file an ethics complaint against her.

The tweet has since been deleted, but read, "All the developers seeking to make big profits in SM from 'affordable housing' all have the same look: White, male, tall, wear blue blazers, money hungry, and emotionless...'"

The complaint argues the tweet in question was a violation of the City's ethics ordinance, which requires city officials to conduct themselves with integrity and impartiality.

A public hearing will be held in April regarding the complaint and the tweet.
