BEE CAVE, Texas — For most of the country, Feb. 2 means it's Groundhog Day. But for Central Texans, it's Armadillo Day.
Each year for Armadillo Day – Groundhog Day, Texas-style – armadillo "Bee Cave Bob" makes an afternoon appearance at the West Pole in Bee Cave to let Central Texans know what they can expect from the weather in the coming weeks.
This year, the weather-predicting critter announced on Twitter that he agreed with his furry northern counterpart, Punxsutawney Phil, saying we can expect an early spring.
Earlier in the day, Bob's Twitter alluded to what his prediction might be. "High of 80 degrees in early February," @BeeCaveBob said. "Do I really need to tell you whether or not it is an early spring?"
"Armadillo Day" has been celebrated in Bee Cave since 2012.
