How to get around during the Texas Longhorns' game on Saturday

Kickoff for the game against Colorado State is at 2:30 p.m., but road closures will start before then.

AUSTIN, Texas — It's that time again. Texas Longhorns football kicks off this Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Darrel K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The Longhorns will take on the Colorado State Rams starting 2:30 p.m., but as fans know, the gameday fun starts long before that, from Bevo Blvd. and Longhorn City Limits to tailgating.

Here's what you need to know to get around Saturday.

Street closures

The gist for street closures is that all roads around the stadium will be impacted, but here's a street-by-street breakdown:

  • San Jacinto Boulevard from East Dean Keeton Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard – no thru traffic from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Robert Deadman Drive from East Dean Keeton to Red River Street – no thru traffic
  • Trinity Street from MLK to San Jacinto – no thru traffic
  • Clyde Littlefield Drive from the southbound Intestate 35 frontage road to Red River – full closures, no thru traffic
  • East Dean Keeton from Robert Deadman to Red River – rideshare drop-off point
  • West 17th Street from San Jacinto to Trinity – full closure, no thru traffic
  • West 18th Street from San Jacinto to Trinity – full closure, no thru traffic
  • Duval Street at Elmwood – no left turn from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • San Jacinto from Duval to East Dean Keeton – southbound closed
  • East Dean Keeton at San Jacinto – no left turn
  • East Dean Keeton at Red River – no left turn
  • Medical Arts Parkway at East Dean Keeton – no right turn
  • Red River from East Dean Keeton to Clyde Littlefield – southbound closed
  • Manor Road at I-35 – westbound closed
  • I-35 to Manor Road – northbound and southbound exit ramps closed
  • Trinity from 15th Street to MLK – no thru traffic

The alternative route for northbound and southbound traffic is Guadalupe Street. The alternative route from eastbound and westbound traffic is 15th Street.

One-way streets pre-game

  • San Jacinto Boulevard between Martin Luther King Boulevard and 20 1/2 Street is one way northbound
  • Robert Dedman Drive between Dean Keeton Street and DeLoss Dodds Way is one way southbound
  • DeLoss Dodds between Robert Dedman Drive and San Jacinto is one way westbound
  • 21st Street between San Jacinto and Speedway is one way eastbound
  • Trinity Street between DeLoss Dodds and 25th Street is one way southbound
  • San Jacinto between 24th Street and DeLoss Dodds is one way southbound

One-way streets post-game

  • San Jacinto between MLK and 20 1/2 is one way southbound
  • Robert Dedman between Dean Keeton and DeLoss Dodds is one way northbound
  • 21st between San Jacinto and Speedway is one way westbound
  • Trinity between DeLoss Dodds and 25th is one way northbound

Parking for the game

Football fans can purchase guaranteed parking for Saturday's game online in advance. Advance parking costs $61.63, including all applicable fees and taxes. As of Thursday afternoon, advance spots were still available at the Health Center Garage and Speedway Garage but were sold out at Lot 15 and Lot 18/92.

The Health Center and Speedway garages will also offer game day parking for $50 starting five hours before game time.

Special accommodation parking is also available for $50 per vehicle on a first-come, first-served basis starting 7 a.m. at Trinity Street near Deloss Dodds Way - Dedman & Dean Keeton Checkpoint and at Lot 118.

Overnight parking is prohibited in all restricted lots and streets, and towing will begin at 12:01 a.m. on game day. Towed vehicles will be relocated by A&A Wrecker and Recovery to Lot 115 or Lot 110.

What to know about tailgating

Open tailgating is allowed in any of the yellow-marked spaces on the map below. Fans with parking permits in the purple-marked surface lots may also tailgate in those lots.

Tents and tailgate setups can begin at 7 a.m. Saturday.
