Expect pleasant weather for Austin FC's home opener against Minnesota United

We're tracking clear and dry conditions as the Verde and Black kick off the 2024 season at Q2 Stadium.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin FC fans, the long offseason has passed and we can now turn our attention to the start of the 2024 season, as the Verde and Black host Minnesota United.

Thankfully, it'll be perfect matchday weather on Saturday. Here a breakdown of all the "verde" good details.

Warm and dry

We're expecting highs Saturday afternoon to get near 80, well above average for this time of year. However, with that, it is important to stay hydrated, especially if you're tailgating before the match. We expect tailgating time to be the warmest part of the day.

As for the actual match, kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and we expect temperatures to only be slightly cooler, around 70 before dropping to the lower 60s by game's end.

We also expect skies to remain clear throughout the match, with no rain issues – although it might not feel like it in the Supporters' Section as La Murga De Austin do their "Cuervos" chant or if the Verde and Black score a goal. But that water may also cause a momentary cooling sensation, so no harm, no foul.
