Austin-Bergstrom International Airport celebrates 10 years with British Airways

For all of March, Club World and World Traveler Plus flyers have the chance to taste Texas barbecue and brisket during their flights to Heathrow Airport.

AUSTIN, Texas — Since 2014, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has partnered with British Airways to provide nonstop services for flyers.

This year, the companies are celebrating 10 years in business together. For the whole month of March, some flyers can experience special Texas flair when traveling from AUS to Heathrow Airport in London.

Club World and World Traveler Plus members will receive limited edition bottles of original barbecue sauce from famed Austin eatery Franklin Barbecue as they travel to London.

Not only that, but customers can also try out a barbecue meal, including "a lightly smoked and succulent beef brisket dish, served with sweet corn pudding, lightly spiced bean stew, pickled cucumber, red onion and vegetable slaw," according to British Airways. Other options include chicken barbeque with a side of beans and rice.

Meal options were created by British Airways Executive Chef Mark Brega after spending time with Franklin Barbecue owner Aaron Franklin.

"We are always looking for culinary inspiration in the cities we fly, so it was a delight to meet Aaron Franklin and learn from his passion and expertise and share Franklin Barbecue's Original barbecue sauce with our customers," Brega said.

AUS nonstop flights

The Austin airport offers a number of nonstop flights with various airlines, including national destinations to Boston, Denver and Fort Lauderdale.

Last month, the airport announced its plans to offer 10 new direct flights to Cleveland starting this spring.

Nonstop international flights are also available to places like the Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Liberia.
