A fantastic Halloween weekend is underway across Central Texas! Great weather is in the forecast for trick-or-treaters on Sunday evening, with temperatures in the 70s through early evening, then cooling to the 60s by 9 p.m. or so.
The forecast stays pretty uneventful to start the week, with highs remaining in the 80s through Monday and Tuesday.
A strong cold front will move through Central Texas Wednesday or Wednesday night. There is still some uncertainty with the exact timing and just how chilly the temperatures behind the front could get. But, as of now, we're looking at our coolest afternoons so far of the season by Thursday and Friday.
This cold front will bring a chance for showers and storms late Wednesday through Thursday. Rainfall totals at this time should range from a half-inch to 1.5 inches.
However, it looks like the main story will be the cooldown as a brisk north wind sets in behind the front. We've had some cold mornings through October, but we're expecting the coolest afternoons so far of the season by late week, with highs dropping all the way to the 60s. Some models are even showing highs in the 50s.
Plan on legitimate sweater weather with chilly mornings and very cool afternoons through late week and next weekend. Dry weather likely returns by Friday. We'll continue to iron out the details with this strong cold front over the coming days.
