Lake levels see slight improvements after a rainy weekend

Here's a look at lake levels across Central Texas after picking up rounds of rain Friday through Sunday.

AUSTIN, Texas — Rainfall this past week reached far and wide across Central Texas, with a few days this week expected to see additional rain as well.

The largest amounts of rain stalled across the Coastal Plains on Saturday and Sunday, pushing 4 inches across areas of Fayette County.

Hill Country rain totals ran up between 2 inches and 3 inches throughout the same time period.

While more rainfall will be needed to substantially increase lake levels, the Highland Lakes system did benefit a little from the recent rains.

Over the past seven days, levels in Lake Travis and have risen about a half of a foot. Upstream in Lake Buchanan, levels have risen by about a quarter of a foot.

Percentage-wise, this doesn't budge the 45% full at Lake Travis and the 62% full at Lake Buchanan. The Hill Country will need rains this month to favor the northern portions of the Colorado River in order to further fill the lakes.
