ROUND ROCK, Texas — As baseball season begins, fans are starting to head to the stadiums to support their favorite teams.
In Central Texas, minor league baseball team Round Rock Express is hosting its first home game of the season on March 29. And with it comes new menu items at Dell Diamond.
This year, a unique addition to the food selection is the "Boomstick," a foot-long hot dog that is "covered in chili and queso and topped with french onion crisps and red jalapeños," according to Rylan Kobre, the Round Rock Express' public relations and broadcasting manager.
That's not all, though.
The stadium is offering a full lineup of unique menu options, from a popcorn-flavored milkshake to loaded mac and cheese.
Looking for a hearty Texas meal? One new item is the brisket pulled pork sandwich made with sausage from Southside Market & Barbecue.
Another southern-inspired option is the mac and cheese, topped with house pulled pork, bacon and pork rinds.
Those who are searching for vegetarian alternatives can check out Ragin' Bowls, which were first introduced last season. This year, the noodle bowls will include lo mein and chili garlic tofu.
Another non-meat choice is Ono Pacifico's Pacific Portobello, "with a teriyaki pineapple ring, with a little bit of arugula, fresh tomatoes and nice onions with a little pepper jack cheese," store front manager Ali Bennick said.
All menu options at Ono Pacifico can be served with gluten-free bread.
Trying to find the perfect dessert? The s'mores milkshake is returning once again. Plus, new this year, fans can order a popcorn-flavored shake for a sweet and savory mix.
Of course, those looking for a more standard meal can also find plenty of hot dog and tater tot options.
The Round Rock Express' first home game of the season starts at 7:15 p.m. Friday against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.
Now, fans can enjoy not just the baseball game but unique meals along with it.
