APD searching for suspect after stabbing at East Austin apartment complex

A victim was taken to a hospital after authorities said they were stabbed.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff's Office SWAT team responded to an incident involving a barricaded suspect Thursday morning in East Austin.

According to law enforcement officials, a man in his 40s was injured in a stabbing at approximately 12:45 a.m. at the Urban Villa Apartments, located at 4400 Airport Blvd., near Interstate 35.

When the SWAT team arrived, they located the victim, who was suffering from serious injuries in a walkway between two buildings. The man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believed the suspect had locked themselves inside the apartment, but in a media briefing just before 7 a.m. Thursday, the Austin Police Department (APD) said no one was found inside.

The suspect is not in custody at this time. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the APD Tips Hotline at 512-472-8477.

This is the third time this year that law enforcement have been unable to arrest a suspect following a barricade situation.

On May 30, APD responded to a barricade situation at the 4900 block of Craigwood Drive but reported that no one was arrested. That suspect is still at large.

Then, on June 15, APD responded to another barricade situation at the 2600 block of Aldrich Street and again reported no arrests. That suspect is also still at large.
