AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.
On Wednesday, KVUE stopped by Kick Butt Coffee, a coffee shop and live music venue that has been around for 13 years. It was started by home-grown Austinite and Kung Fu and Tai Chi instructor Thomas Gohring.
Kick Butt Coffee offers more than coffee. They have breakfast burritos, muffins and cookies made in-house. The lunch options include sandwiches and salads, and they have alcohol available, too. You can also catch a live show at Kick Butt Coffee. There's a comedy open mic every Wednesday, and punk and metal shows.

Next door to Kick Butt Coffee is Master Gohring's Tai Chi and Kung Fu, another local spot owned by Gohring. He opened it in 1996.
Kick Butt Coffee is also hiring. Gohring told KVUE they’re looking for a cook.
You can find Kick Butt Coffee at 5775 Airport Blvd., Suite 725, or online here.
