Body found in southwest Austin identified as missing 70-year-old woman

Anne Ringold went missing on June 24. Her body was discovered two days later, according to police.

AUSTIN, Texas — A body discovered alongside a southwest Austin roadway last month has been identified as that of an elderly woman reported missing just a few days earlier.

Anne Ringold, 70, was last seen on June 24 in the 100 block of Sandra Muraida Way in Downtown Austin. Police said Ringgold frequented the area with a wheeled cart, and there was concern for her wellbeing at the time of her disappearance.

Just two days after Ringold was reported missing, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) located a body in the 4300 block of Westbank Drive, not far from Camp Craft Road.

On July 9, APD said the Travis County Medical Examiner has positively identified the body as Ringold.

According to APD, Ringold's death is still under investigation, but it is not believed to be a homicide. Law enforcement does not suspect any foul play.

No additional details are available at this time.
